European Sign Expo: Where Visionaries Meet

In under one month’s time, sign makers and visual communications specialists will congregate at European Sign Expo 2025 to see the latest technology developments and trends across the sign industry.

Ahead of the event, we spoke with three of our exhibitors – Domino Sign, EFKA and NSELED Europe – about the sign market. Building on the theme for this year’s event, Where Visionaries Meet, we also asked them how print and signage Visionaries can help to shape the future of the industry.

The signage market

The signage and visual communications industry has evolved since we launched European Sign Expo back in 2013, and there have been lots of developments in the areas of digital signage and sustainability. Below, they share their insights on the current state of the visual communications industry.

Daniele Rocca, CEO, NSELED Europe, comments: “The shift towards digital signage, sustainability, and intuitive solutions is opening up fresh opportunities for creativity and innovation. The demand for high-quality visual displays that can be easily updated and managed remotely is growing fast.”

Bérénice Bole, CEO at Domino Sign, notes: “The market is entering a phase of transformation. Demand for speed, customisation and energy efficiency is growing, while skilled labour is becoming harder to find. This is pushing sign makers to adopt smarter, more automated solutions. At the same time, there is a strong need to maintain high-end visual quality — the challenge is to do more, faster, and better.”

Harold Klaren, International Sales Manager at EFKA, adds: “The market is evolving rapidly. We are seeing a strong shift towards sustainability in signage, with more businesses opting for eco-friendly materials and modular, reusable display solutions. The demand for illuminated signage also continues to grow, particularly in retail and exhibition settings, where brands are looking for ways to enhance visibility and customer engagement. Additionally, customisation and flexibility are becoming increasingly important, as customers are looking for customised solutions that seamlessly integrate with their branding requirements.”

Looking to the future, our exhibitors discussed how they expect to see more integration of sustainable solutions and materials, as well as new technologies such as AI.

Daniele says: “In the future, I envision a market where digital signage is seamlessly integrated into everyday environments, enhancing customer experiences through interactive and immersive technologies. Sustainability and energy efficiency will also play a significant role in product development. Moreover, innovation will be crucial in addressing the economic challenges the world is facing, such as resource scarcity and environmental concerns. By leveraging advanced technologies like AI and IoT, we can create more efficient and sustainable solutions that not only improve visual communication, but also contribute to a more environmentally conscious industry.”

Bérénice notes: “At Domino Sign we believe the future lies in intelligent, interconnected tools — machines that simplify complexity, and materials that allow for quicker, cleaner and more sustainable production. The industry will continue to blend craftsmanship with automation. For us, it’s about supporting sign makers with accessible, high-quality tools that elevate their creativity and profitability.”

Harold adds: “EFKA believes the future lies in combining sustainability with innovation. Signage will become more integrated into brand experiences, interior design and storytelling. The signage and visual communications market should also be prepared for evolving customer expectations, where speed, customisation and online ordering play a bigger role.”

Where Visionaries Meet

Referring back to our strapline this year, when discussing the qualities that a Visionary would possess, all three exhibitors note the same ones, including: being creative and innovative, the ability to adapt to new market trends and technology advancements, and the evolving needs of sign makers.

Factoring in these qualities, the exhibitors told us how they believe Visionaries can help shape the industry’s future.

Daniele comments: “Visionaries are investing in research and development to create more sophisticated, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions. They are also focusing on building strong relationships with clients to understand their evolving needs better. At NSELED Europe, we believe strongly in accessibility to technology. One of the significant challenges of the future lies in making technology user-friendly for non-experts. We aim to simplify complex technologies to improve everyone's life. This involves designing intuitive interfaces and providing comprehensive support to ensure that our solutions are accessible to a wide range of users, regardless of their technical background. By doing so, we can democratise access to advanced digital signage and LED technology, empowering more businesses and individuals to leverage these tools effectively.”

Bérénice adds: “They invest in R&D, build strong partnerships with machine manufacturers and remain close to the field — listening to the real pain points of production teams. At Domino Sign, we work directly with Korean engineering to develop machines tailored to European needs, and offer training to support every client, from small workshops to large-scale manufacturers.”

Harold notes: “Visionaries are leading the charge in sustainable development by introducing recycled materials, reducing waste and promoting modular design. They invest in knowledge sharing and collaboration.”

Lastly, with European Sign Expo just a few weeks away, we wanted to know how European Sign Expo can contribute to the vision they have of the future.

Daniele notes: “European Sign Expo provides a platform for industry leaders to showcase the latest innovations and network with potential clients and partners. It helps Visionaries stay updated on market trends and technologies, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing.”

Bérénice comments: “European Sign Expo is where ideas meet reality. It’s the ideal place to see how innovation takes shape — from bending machines to LED technology to new materials. It offers the chance to connect directly with the people behind the solutions and find inspiration for the next stage of your business.”

Harold concludes: “European Sign Expo is where ideas come to life. It brings together creatives, technical experts, and business leaders who are shaping the future of signage. For us as a manufacturer, it’s an opportunity to meet our customers, showcase innovations, gather valuable feedback, and explore new partnerships.”
