SAi celebrates 25th Anniversary at FESPA 2017
SA International (SAi) will be celebrating a double milestone at FESPA 2017, after securing its 80-millionth software sale in the same year it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
To celebrate, the software company will run a promotion at FESPA 2017, from 8-12 May at the Hamburg Messe, that gives visitors a free 30-day subscription to its Flexi RIP software.
The company is excited to announced that a staggering 80 million-plus jobs were produced last year using its software portfolio, while also marking the 25th anniversary of its industry-leading, Flexi signmaking solution.
The 80 million-plus jobs comprise those undertaken on large format printers and cutters, driven by Flexi signmaking software and EnRoute CAD/CAM software, respectively.
“Such a staggering number of global jobs in just 12 months is an extraordinary accomplishment for our company and underscores the long-held popularity and continued confidence within the marketplace of our feature-rich software stable,” says SAi CEO Mark Blundell.
“We also issued over 41,000 software licences last year, of which around half were RIP software licences, so we head to FESPA proud of the role that we are playing in the industry and the difference we are making to our customers’ businesses,” he adds.
At-show promotions and on-stand presentations
As part of its showcase at FESPA 2017, SAi will offer existing and new customers a special at-show promotion of a 30-day free trial of its industry-renowned Flexi design, print and cut software.
FESPA will also provide the opportunity to hear about how SAi’s advanced software portfolio delivers efficiency-enhancing tools to signmakers, wide-format printers and CAD/CAM users via live on-stand workflow demonstrations (Hall B7, Stand A59).
This includes tutorials of the company’s recently launched performance-improving mobile app, MyFlexi. The free app offers print shop employees and Flexi-users time-saving tools including the ability to quote jobs on-the-go in a matter of second using FlexiQuote.
Quotes created remotely instantly appear in Flexi to ensure capacity management smooth workflow and greater productivity.
25 years of continued innovation
Visitors to FESPA 2017 can test SAi's Flexi software in a free trial.
During its quarter of a century, Flexi has enjoyed progressive growth and is today established as the software of choice for signmakers and wide-format print businesses around the world. As the industry-standard for sign-specific design tools, RIP and print, print-and-cut and direct vinyl cutting, SAi Flexi is found in over 75% of wide-format printers.
The success of Flexi saw the launch of the company become the first and only wide-format RIP software provider software boasting not one, but two companion mobile apps.
Working in conjunction with SAi Flexi version 11 and 12, the apps are designed to provide business owners and print shop employees respectively with production-enhancing tools to streamline throughput and reduce production time – from set-up to completion. This is particularly useful to remotely access valuable production information while on the road or away from the office.

The importance of ink for large format printers
Ink is crucial for large format inkjet printers, influencing substrate compatibility, productivity, and cost. Nessan Cleary discusses the three main types which include UV-curable ink, latex ink and eco-solvent ink. Each ink type has specific strengths and weaknesses, making printers choice dependent on budget and intended applications.

What are the benefits of Direct-To-Fabric printing?
Direct-to-fabric printing is gaining popularity for high-volume textile production, enabling on-demand, customized short runs. These printers offer ink flexibility, accommodating various fabric types like cotton and silk, though ink development focuses on faster turnaround by reducing pre- and post-processing. Compared to traditional methods, direct-to-fabric inkjet printing is a more sustainable option due to reduced water and chemical usage, and localized production.

What are the opportunities for large format providers regarding digital touch screens?
Digital touchscreens are becoming increasingly common, offering businesses opportunities to improve customer engagement and streamline operations. Nessan Cleary shares, while more expensive to implement than standard digital displays due to complex software and integration needs, touchscreens provide self-service options, multilingual support, and can reduce staffing costs in various settings like retail, transportation, and healthcare.
