Industrial print highlights at FESPA 2017: Part 2

FESPA 2017 will feature a unique seminar programme that will offer this year a deep insight into the industrial print sector.

Readers of the first half of this two-part feature series will have found out about the many exhibitors that will be in attendance at FESPA 2017 to showcase their latest offerings for industrial printing. However, the event will go much deeper and offer further guidance to visitors through a series of informative conference sessions.

Running throughout the exhibition, the seminar programme will feature a host of speakers from across the print industry, each discussing a certain subject area. Industrial print will be a key focus this year and while there may be no substitute for product demonstrations on the show floor, visitors will benefit greatly from hearing advice and guidance from expert speakers.

For those looking to gauge opinion from various sources, a session on day two of FESPA 2017 may well be of interest. Sonja Angerer, editor of Rrrabbitproductions, will lead a panel session featuring a number of experts from across the industry, with the key discussion point being industrial inkjet.

Delegates will hear panel members debate how industrial inkjet is different from the traditional print industry and the personalised interior design. The session will also focus in on the move away from flexo and screen print and what inkjet needs to do in order to compete, as well as if industrial inkjet really is an option for print service providers.

For those interested in how industrial inkjet could impact industries outside of print, this session will also examine how this type of technology could disrupt sectors such as automotive.

Also on day two, at midday, print consultant Sean Smyth will head up a session entitled ‘Industrial Printing – Focus on Electronics, where he will explore the use of and opportunities for industrial print technology in the printed electronics sector.

Meanwhile, industrial print will serve as the opening topic of discussion on this year’s programme at 12:30 on the opening day. ‘Industrial printing – Focus on Glass (flat and hollow) will consider the new opportunities for this technology across architectural and hollow glass printing. The session will also focus on the new capabilities of smart glass and what is to come in this area of the industry.

In addition, at 12:30 on May 10, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the role of industrial print in the automotive and aerospace industries, and the future opportunities in this sectors.

Day 4 of FESPA 2017 will also see the spotlight cast on industrial print, with a focus on 3D printing. A new frontier for many applications, there are new applications in 3D print highlighted each day, and this session will look at how should printers react and exploit the market potential.
